The Thirsty Pigeon
Translation by George Fyler Townsend via Project Gutenberg
A PIGEON, oppressed by excessive thirst, saw a goblet of water painted on a signboard. Not supposing it to be only a picture, she flew towards it with a loud whir and unwittingly dashed against the signboard, jarring herself terribly. Having broken her wings by the blow, she fell to the ground, and was caught by one of the bystanders.
Zeal should not outrun discretion.
I gotta say… lucky for this gal, she fell into the arms of a bystander!! Who, hopefully, nursed her back to health and also adopted her.
Work Stuff!
I want to say thank you to everyone who followed along with the Almost Autumn Art Challenge! I’m so impressed with everyone’s work, you can check out some of the art here. So far there have been over 260 entries to the challenge!
The challenge ends on September 23 (the first day of fall but also my b-day, ahem…) so you still have a couple days left to submit some art for the last prompt: Camping & Cuddles. To enter, use the hashtag #almostautumnartchallenge when you post to Instagram and be sure to tag the hosts (@lizvolpi @dinariddledesign @crow.ski @alfasengupta ) so we can see and share your work!
Freebie Zone
If you haven’t grabbed this freebie, be sure to do so soon! I’ll have a special Halloween-themed freebie next time.
Epilogue
Well, I hope you liked that fable! This one felt a bit more obscure, there’s not a lot of info about it on the Internet… at least, not that I could find in the time it took me to write this, lol. I hope you all are having a fabulous conclusion to your summer and are getting excited for the upcoming change of seasons!
As always, reply to this email if you want to say hi or have any questions. Otherwise, catch you next time :)
Arrivederci,
- Liz
